Culinary Workshops: Foodies Without Borders facilitates Pop up culinary schools and workshops in Kilifi county and around Kenya. These workshops provide basic culinary skills and build confidence in the young men and women who are interested in working in the culinary world. We encourage our supporters to sponsor a student or an entire workshop whenever possible.
Consultation & Support: Foodies Without Borders also consults startups and operational restaurants with marketing and operational strategies. In some cases we partner with establishments which provide internships to our beneficiaries. We are also constantly seeking and accepting quality used and new kitchen wares in the U.S for later distribution to our students in need, as well as businesses that have partnered with our non profit.
Women’s Kitchen Outreach: We are making an unprecedented effort to reach out to women in rural communities and create workshops together and strategize on enhancing their cooking experiences at home and potential new businesses. We have partnered with 2 communities and we plan to build our first outdoor equipped communal kitchens in Kilifi County by end of 2020. These kitchens will provide an inviting safe space and provide access to modern kitchen wares/equipment and skilled staff to teach women who are interested in embarking into food business.
Permaculinary: The word is derived from Permaculture and Culinary. Foodies Without Borders has 2 new farms dedicated in growing strictly organic produce and establishing a test kitchen on site as well. Our farm has many indigenous species as well as we have introduced exotic organic species that are currently growing naturally and doing very well in this initial stages. Our farms are open to groups, individuals, institutions and also foodies from around the world. Welcome!
